Founded in 2020, the Junior Prowlers are a 14U Travel & High School Development Hockey program, based in Central Ohio. Made up of a mix of Bantam birth year players from school districts across Central Ohio, the team plays a Tier 2 Independent schedule.

The Jr. Prowlers Hockey Club is a USA Hockey sanctioned mixed birth year Bantam/14U program, open to all players in Central Ohio.  The team plays an Independent schedule, including a full season of in-state game play and several regional/out-of-state tournaments.

Founded in 2020 in partnership with the Prowler Hockey Association (PHA), the Junior Prowlers are Head Coached by Christopher Watts, a veteran USA Hockey Level 4 Certified coach.  Skills training is provided by Plain City-based Battery Hockey Academy, an elite hockey training facility that's the first of its kind in Central Ohio.

The Junior Prowlers' Skating Coach is Jennifer Tieche, and skills coaching is provided by Battery Hockey Academy.



Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations

Head Coach and Club Founder Chris Watts is in his 7th season as a youth hockey coach. His experience includes coaching house, select, and travel hockey teams, as well as coaching soccer, baseball, and football, and he spent 2 seasons as an Assistant Coach for the Pickerington Ridgeview Boys’ Lacrosse team. Chris is a Level 4 USA Hockey certified coach, and he has been on the Board of Directors for Easton Youth Hockey Association (EYHA) for 6 years.

A graduate of Ohio University (BS, Sport & Lifestyle Studies, Coaching Education Minor), Chris is originally from northeast Ohio. He played hockey throughout his childhood, and plays adult league hockey for the CAHL. Chris’ coaching philosophy is Humans, Athletes, Hockey Players: he is equally passionate about developing players on and off the ice, and strives to provide his players with memorable experiences and life lessons.

Chris and his wife, Kirstin, live in Pickerington with their sons, Ian & Connor.
